FLSmidth won a multi-year contract with a Chilean iron ore miner to service five high-pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) across three sites in Chile. All assembly works as well as repairs on shafts are included in the contract.

The service contract will be managed and executed by FLSmidth’s Chilean service center, which is close to the mines. The center is equipped to make large HPGR parts.

FLSmidth previously delivered to the customer HPGR roll tires that ultimately lasted more than three times as long as the originally installed roll tires, the supplier reported. The tires also increased operational availability and significantly reduced recirculation.

Those benefits and others are why FLSmidth HPGR offerings are known as the best in the industry, leadership at the supplier said. “The fact that we can win a large service contract on a non-FLSmidth HPGR platform proves that we have the service concept to back up the technology, securing enhanced productivity and extended lifetime,” said Joshua Meyer, service business line president.

FLSmidth has reportedly installed 155 HPGRs at sites around the world.
