Epiroc signed an agreement to acquire AARD Mining Equipment, a South African mining equipment manufacturer that is based near Johannesburg and specializes in low-profile underground machines. AARD solutions will complement the Epiroc portfolio, Epiroc said.

“This acquisition will further strengthen our growth ambitions in Africa and beyond,” said CEO Helena Hedblom.

With roughly 200 employees, AARD serves South African customers and makes drill rigs, bolters, loaders and scalers. The company said the acquisition could expand its market share. “We are excited about the prospect of continuing to grow the business
within the Epiroc Group,” CEO Make Adendorff said.

Separately, Epiroc agreed to acquire a majority stake in Radlink, an Australian supplier of wireless connectivity solutions.

With roughly 330 employees, Radlink, headquartered in Perth, Australia, designs, delivers, and integrates wireless data and voice communication networks and supporting infrastructure to surface and underground mines throughout Australia.

Radlink solutions will support Epiroc, its solutions and its customers, Hedblom said “We look forward to welcoming the strong team at Radlink to Epiroc.”
