Diamond processing technology specialist DebTech delivered an X-ray Transmission (XRT) sorter to South Africa’s largest diamond mine to optimize its plant throughput by re-concentrating the product from the dense medium separation (DMS) stage. The XRT Coarse Concentrator unit was delivered to De Beers’ Venetia mine in Limpopo province. Commissioning took place in November. The unit’s modularized configuration, where all elements of the system are designed to fit into two 6-meter containers, makes for optimal assembly and testing under factory conditions, efficient transportation, and quicker commissioning on site, DebTech reported. The company’s XRT technology has been specifically designed to provide an alternative to a high yielding DMS plant.
