Columbia Steel Casting Co., Inc. agreed to be acquired by CMS Cepcor Group. The former will become Columbia Steel Cast Products LLC, will trade independently as Columbia Steel, and will retain its engineering, sales and commercial team.
Customers will benefit from the development, Columbia Steel said. “Columbia Steel customers will be able to get the same parts in the same alloys they have come to depend upon, and moving forwards they will be able to do so at more competitive price point,” said Mike Moehnke, sales and marketing director.
The agreement comes roughly five months after Columbia Steel said it would close its North Portland, Oregon (U.S.A.) foundry and lay off 225 employees. A letter to employees said the company had sought a buyer to acquire the foundry and business, but had failed.
Headquartered in Leicestershire, Britain, CMS Cepcor supplies replacement parts for crushing brands and models, including all popular gyratory, cone, and jaw crushers.
