Australia-based equipment vendor Crushing & Mining Equipment (CME), a subsidiary of H-E Parts International, announced the recent sale of a Tecman rockbreaker boom system to B2Gold Namibia. The sale, according to CME, marked the first unit of its capital equipment to be commissioned in Namibia and is scheduled to go into service in late 2014. The system will be used at the Otjikoto gold project, located 300 km (185 miles) north of Namibia’s capital city of Windhoek.
CME described the Tecman UA1750 heavy-duty mining rockbreaker boom, incorporating a Tecman TMB27-V5 hammer, as a purpose-built stationary model that will be used with the primary gyratory crusher in the mine’s processing plant. The total weight of the boom and hammer combined is in excess of 27 metric tons (mt). With a lifting capability of 4 mt, the boom can also be used as a lifting device for maintenance of the crusher itself. The system has remote control capabilities to allow the operator to control the boom from the crusher control cab.
Jamie Benson, regional sales manager, said, “Although CME has supplied manganese wear liners and crusher parts into Africa for many years, this first-time sale into the Namibian mining market demonstrates CME’s rapidly increasing market presence in the African region and particularly into the rockbreaker and boom market.”
