Kal Tire announced the certification of its carbon calculator, which the company reported is able to determine fuel and carbon emissions savings by retreading earthmover tires as opposed to buying new. The calculator will be used in the company’s Maple Program, which is described as seeking to quantify a customer’s environmental impact as they grow their fleet with retreads.

Leadership at Kal Tire said the program will provide hard data on possible environmental savings. “Retreading reduces a tire’s operating cost per hour, and it has become increasingly important to customers to reduce their impact on the environment,” Darren Flint, vice president, tire lifetime services, Kal Tire, said.
