Doppelmayr Transport Technology reported a new 1.4-kilometer (km), 175-metric-ton-per-hour (mt/h) continuous bi-cable ropeway is in use at Zijin-Continental Gold’s Buriticá gold mine. The ropeway hauls backfill material 646 m up a valley to the mouth of the mine.

The material buckets travel on a fixed-tensioned track rope. They are driven by the continuously moving haul rope loop, to which they are attached via detachable grips.

The supplier was contracted in October 2017 and the ropeway completed commissioning in February 2021.
