PT Borneo Alumina Indonesia appointed a Black & Veatch-led project management consortium to develop an alumina processing facility. The West Kalimantan facility will feature a 1-million-metric-ton-per-year smelter-grade alumina refinery, coal gasification plant and coal-fired power plant.

As the consortium leader, Black & Veatch will perform design review, equipment inspections, and provide power and coal gasification subject matter expertise. Consortium partners Progesys will manage the alumina refinery process design scope. Jaya CM will supply site construction engineers and inspectors.

The consortium is responsible for evaluating EPC bids, reviewing design engineering, monitoring equipment supply, conducting factory acceptance tests, and overseeing construction and commissioning.
