FLSmidth sold large stockyard machines to two iron ore miners, one in Canada and one in West Africa.

FLSmidth reported a $32 million sale of mineral processing technologies to Ausenco Chile Ltd., a contractor for the Mantoverde Development Project owned by Mantos Copper Holding.

The sale includes a primary gyratory crusher, SAG mill, ball mill, flotation cells, column cells, thickeners, cyclones and pumps. The flotation technology is expected to make 4,700 m3/hr of water available for reuse.

FLSmidth said the sale is a clear endorsement of the supplier’s strength through the mineral processing flowsheet. “This approach will maximize project execution efficiencies and de-risk process performance,” Mikko Keto, president, mining, FLSmidth, said. “We look forward to delivering the equip-
ment to Mantoverde and providing service support from erection to start-up, through to final commissioning.”

The equipment is slated for delivery by end-H1 2022.

Separately, Finnland’s Keliber tapped FLSmidth for process engineering services at the Päiväneva concentrator plant. There, ore will be processed into spodumene concentrate, which will go to the chemical plant in Kokkola to be turned into lithium hydroxide.

At the Kokkola plant, FLSmidth was previously contracted to engineer a high-temperature conversion solution using a rotary kiln.

The developments are strong proof of FLSmidth’s knowhow in the lithium arena, Keto said. “We now look forward to this next step of designing an efficient, world-class concentrator flowsheet, in line with our MissionZero program.”

Separately, FLSmidth sold large stockyard machines to two iron ore miners, one in Canada and one in West Africa.

One bought a bucket-wheel reclaimer and yard conveyor system with a handling capacity of more than 6,000 metric tons per hour (mt/hr). The other bought a 10,000-mt/hr stacker-reclaimer with a scissor-type tripper car.

The solutions feature transfer chutes designed as retractable modules for simple and quick maintenance, FLSmidth reported. Whole drive assemblies, including the motor, can be changed as single units to increase the uptime of the machines.

The Canadian order included BulkExpert, an automation system that optimizes stacking and reclaiming operations.
