Due to its design—which includes the world’s first 10.5-yd3 (8-m3) output compulsory twin-shaft mixer—the Cortez Hills multipurpose plant is capable of producing any type of concrete to varied specifications. The mixer was designed and manufactured for PA+PO engineers by OMG-SICOMA of Perugia, Italy.

The specialty mixer manufacturer worked closely with PA+PO to provide a mixer that not only could provide 600 yd3/hour theoretical output of low-slump concrete, but also produce any slump (viscosity) mix at high-outputs without de-rating for dry mixing or low-slump mixes. The mixer is fit with four 100-hp (75-kW) drives in a quad/Janus style. The mixer is key to the full range of materials the plant system produces.
