Chile President Sebastián Piñera appointed Hernán de Solminihac and Ignacio Briones as new board members of Corporación Nacional del Cobre (Codelco). Hernán de Solminhac is a civil construction engineer and he took on the Ministry of Public Works in 2010 until July 2011. He was then appointed minister on mining, working until end of Piñera’s presidential term on March 11, 2014. Ignacio Briones is a commercial engineer. He was a professor and researcher at the Adolfo Ibáñez University. In March 2010, he became international finance coordinator for the Ministry of Finance. Briones was also the Chilean ambassador to the OECD from 2013 to 2014.
