Nyrstar’s Myra Falls underground mine is located in a provincial park in central Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Mining here has produced zinc, lead, copper and precious metals since the mid 1960s, but was suspended in late 2015 as Nyrstar assesses various options for its future.

An on-site diversion channel, which conveys clean water from the hillside above to a lower creek, was originally lined with shotcrete that had begun to degrade over time. A decision was made to enlarge the diversion channel and realign it to effectively handle seasonal high-water volume and velocities.
