Valmet introduced Valmet DNAe, the next generation of the namesake distributed control system (DCS). The web-based process control system comes with new cybersecure system architecture, control software and hardware, and engineering and analytics tools, helping customers improve the efficiency, productivity, sustainability and safety of their operations, Valmet said.

The DCS provides “a common user interface for controls, analytics, configuration, and maintenance,” Valmet said. “Intuitive workflows simplify operations and enable users to manage larger process areas with less effort.” Analytics tools can turn data into actionable insights. “The new web-based configuration environment provides a unified environment for all engineering needs from office to field, enhancing flexibility in configuration and maintenance tasks.”

Users can “run industrial applications on-premise, at the edge server, or in the cloud,” Valmet said. “It features a scalable redundant data platform, granting easy and controlled access to all data.” The DCS is “cybersecure by design, with role-based access control, authentication, audit trail and encryption mechanisms.” It is capable of “smooth connectivity through secure communication interfaces with external systems.”

Current users can adopt the new version easily, Valmet said.

The development represents a major milestone in process automation, leadership at the supplier said. “It provides a solid platform for moving towards more digitalized, autonomous operations, helping our customers thrive in the changing business environment,” said Emilia Torttila-Miettinen, president, automation systems. “In the development of this new system, we have focused on usability and performance, with a modular approach that enables upgrade paths also from our previous system generations.”
