This week, nearly 400 suppliers displayed mining equipment and technology at the Elko Mining Expo in Elko, Nevada, USA. Thousands of miners and their families were expected to participate in the 2-day fair. For many years, open-pit gold mining operations dominated the mining landscape of northern Nevada. Today, however, Elko is the home to the highest concentration of underground miners in the U.S. While gold is still the predominant mineral mined in Nevada, the state also has silver and copper mines. The region is also experiencing growth in battery minerals, as several projects are expected to come online soon.
