Lundin Mining reported that mining has resumed in the unaffected areas underground after a fire broke out at the Zinkgruvan operation in Sweden. The company said the incident area has now been released by the authorities and there has been no material damage to the mine as a result of the fire. While the investigation to determine the precise cause is ongoing, the source was the contractor haulage truck which was on fire around the 1,140-m level of the mine.

All personnel were accounted for and safely evacuated. There were 58 people underground at the time. Most of the miners were evacuated without delay and those who could not safely evacuate were directed to refuge chambers. Once the fire was extinguished and situation determined safe, remaining personnel were transported to surface, the company said.
