Metso’s greenfield foundry project in Vadodara, India, celebrated its first pour. The company announced plans for the facility, which supplies castings, in September 2018.

“The state-of-the-art foundry will have a strong role in our global foundry network by serving our customers’ growing needs in the mining and aggregate industries worldwide,” President of Metso Minerals Consumables Sami Takaluoma said. “The new facility with its modern and efficient production processes increases our product availability with reduced lead times.”

The new EUR 25 million foundry uses Lean principles, which will enable strong on-time delivery performance, shorter lead times and world-class quality of finished products. Metso said it is continuously exploring alternatives to develop its supply capabilities globally through its own manufacturing facilities as well as through a supplier network.
