The Holmes Mine Rescue Association (HMRA) will host the International Mines Rescue Competition (IMRC) from September 11-16, 2022, at the MSHA Mine Health and Safety Academy in Beaver, W.Va. Seven U.S. teams from both metals and coal will compete in the IMRC.
The association was also expecting to have four or five Canadian teams, two teams from Colombia and possibly a team from Ukraine. In the past, rescue teams from Australia, India, Poland, Finland, Zambia and other countries have competed in the IMRC. The group has secured a room block at the Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, W.Va., and they are currently looking for companies to sponsor the event to offset costs.
