The lawsuit that Twin Metals brought to have mining rights reinstated has been dismissed by a federal judge. The mining company sued the Biden Administration last year after it canceled two of the company’s federal mineral leases and proposed a 20-year ban on copper-nickel mining in parts of the Lake Superior National Forest.

The Twin Metals lawsuit alleged that the U.S. Department of the Interior acted illegally when it canceled the federal mining leases. In his opinion, the judge ruled the court lacked jurisdiction over two Twin Metals’ claims. The mining company could appeal the decision.
