Epiroc plans to expand one of its main production facilities in Örebro, Sweden, to boost productivity and ensure long-term efficiency, according to the company. The changes are planned for the company’s line of surface and exploration drilling division, including constructing a new building hosting assembly and offices. In total, it involves a facility expansion of about 10,000 m². Construction will begin this year and the facilities will be inaugurated starting in 2021. Almost 400 people work at the facility.
“With this investment, we are securing that this strategic production site will be as productive and efficient as possible for the long term,” said Epiroc Senior Executive Vice President Mining and Infrastructure Helena Hedblom. “It will allow us to serve our customers even faster and better.”
Equipment currently made at this production facility include small surface drill rigs, such as the SmartROC and FlexiROC models. In the future, the company said the facility will also manufacture exploration and geotechnical drilling equipment.
