Barminco has been awarded a five-year underground mining services contract with Khoemacau Copper Mining at the Zone 5 copper mine in Botswana worth approximately A$800 million ($560 million). Khoemacau’s Zone 5 operation is a new, large and long-life mine development project located in the highly prospective Kalahari copper belt in Botswana.

Commencing in December, the contract scope includes mine development, underground mine infrastructure establishment, diamond drilling and mine production at an initial rate of 3.6 million metric tons per year.

At peak operations in the current scope, the mine will employ more than 500 people, including approximately 400 high-quality roles for Botswana citizens.
