Fortescue Metals Group won the Digger of the Year award at the 25th Annual Diggers and Dealers Conference in Kalgoorlie, Australia. Accepting the award on behalf of the company, Fortescue CEO Nev Power said it was recognition of the hard work and dedication of everyone at Fortescue.

“Without a doubt, the key to Fortescue’s success is its people,” Power said. “By setting stretch targets, maintaining our focus and leveraging our company’s unique culture and values, we have achieved, and will continue to achieve, great things.”

“I would like to thank everyone at Fortescue for their determination, enthusiasm and unwavering commitment to Fortescue’s vision: to be the safest, lowest cost, most profitable iron ore producer,” he added.

Fortescue directly employs 3,856 employees, 14% of whom are aboriginals. Since commercial shipments first began in 2008, Fortescue has shipped more than 708 million metric tons of iron ore to China, Japan and South Korea.
