Sandvik Mining has secured major material handling contracts in South America and Australia, according to company officials, with combined contract values of more than 950 million SEK to be executed until 2015. The orders include the design and supply of 8.9 km-long systems comprising of two iron ore transfer conveyors carrying up to 28,500 metric tons (mt) per hour and two waste conveyor lines with 9,500 mt per hour capacity for a South American mine.

The Australia orders include design, supply and delivery of iron ore handling equipment with peak rates topping 11,500 mt per hour. “The size and complexity of the systems and the data demonstrate Sandvik Mining’s capability in the area of continuous mining and materials handling applications,” said Gary Hughes, president of the Sandvik Mining business area.
