The Rulmeca Group, a recognized leader in conveyor components, has expanded its global presence in the conveyor pulley business. The company’s South African subsidiary, Melco Conveyor Equipment, has acquired Conveyor Pulley Manufacturers (CPM) located in Johannesburg.

Carsten Spanggaard, managing director of the Rulmeca group and chairman of Melco, confirmed the transaction and explained that the owners of CPM and the existing CPM team will bring additional expertise to Melco. “Our aim is to always be moving ahead and improving our product offering and service,” Spanggaard said.

“The quality of CPM’s product range is excellent,” said Danie O’Connell managing director of Melco. “We shall invest in people, machinery and space to further build on existing strengths and ensure that the pulley range fits in well with our range of rollers, idlers and structure, which are well integrated into the market.”

The founders and owners of CPM, Doug Fenner and Othmar Hiebb, will remain with the business and both believe this is the right move for CPM.
