Following a seven-month suspension, Ok Tedi Mining Ltd. plans to restart mining operations on March 1. The mine should reach full production with the commissioning of the SAG2 shell replacement around mid-March. Ok Tedi is a state-owned company that operates an open-pit copper, gold and silver mine located in the Star Mountains of Western Province, Papua New Guinea (PNG).

During August, the company suspended operations as a result of dry weather. The limitation imposed on river traffic from the lack of rainfall prevented the company from shipping concentrate. Likewise, the company was also unable to reliably bring food, fuel and other essential supplies to the mine.
