Executive Director of Grupo Peñoles Fernando Alanís Ortega recently announced an investment of $56 million into the expansion of Minera El Roble, a Mexican mine located in Velardeña in the state of Durango. This investment becomes a significant injection of financial resources for the municipality and the state, according to the governor of the state, José Rosas Aispuro.

This new mining investment is an addition to the US$200 million already invested by the state of Durango. The underground mine located in Durango produces zinc, lead and silver and has a depth of 250 meters. It currently provides 508 direct jobs and its expansion will result in greater economic development for the area.
