Acquiring Spanish grinding media supplier Santa Ana de Bolueta SA (Sabo) will complement Metso’s current comminution wear parts offerings; the value of the deal was not disclosed.

João Ney Colagrossi, president of Metso’s business line for mining and construction, was enthused about a partnership with “a reputable grinding media provider with excellent know-how.”

The deal, he added, will better overall control mill performance. “We can offer comprehensive packages that materially improve the productivity of our customers’ processes and performance,” said Colagrossi.

Sabo offerings cover media for SAG, ball mill and Vertimill grinding applications, as well as bars for rod mills, he noted, available in various diameters and materials guaranteeing optimal mineral processing performance.

Founded in 1841, Santa Ana de Bolueta SA is a privately owned grinding media supplier with some 40 employees in two locations in Spain; 2012 net sales were approximately $57 million.
