Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group was awarded the Africa Region Supplier of the Year 2012 award from Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd. “At Kal Tire we are guided in what we do by the company’s AIMS,” says Graham Lawes, regional director for KalTire West Africa. “Our number one AIM is to provide our customers with a level of quality and value of bothservice and products that exceeds their expectations and exceeds that available from the competition. Hopefully by receiving this award we are demonstrating, and being recognized for, living to our values.”
The nomination was partly based on a scorecard that took into account things such as safety, communication and considerable added value through reduction in tire change-out times. It was also based on Kal Tire’s overall performance and commitment to the development of Ghanaian industry and society through initiatives such as its social responsibility program and its repair and retread factory in Tarkwa, Ghana.
“This is a deserved recognition for the successful partnership which has developed between Kal Tire and Newmont in Ghana over several years,” said SimonBlamires, Newmont’s regional supply chain director – Africa. “In particular, it is a testament to the efforts Kal Tire has made to add value to our commercial relationship.”
