Officials at FLSmidth have announced the receipt of a $34-million order from India’s Tata Steel to supply two pipe conveyors for 6 million metric tons of iron ore over a distance of 9 km. The route will originate from Tata’s Khondbond mines to the railway point at Joda in Odisha state, on India’s east coast.

“FLSmidth’s experience through more than 300 pipe conveyor installations has enabled the analysis and design of this particular type of material transport system,” said Group CEO Jørgen Huno Rasmussen; FLSmidth previously delivered an in-plant pipe conveyor to Tata Pellet’s Jamshedpur facility.

The two conveyors will have a 1,400 mt/h capacity. The conveyors are 3,600- and 5,300-m long and will navigate challenging terrain.
