Amec Foster Wheeler (AFW) has been awarded the initial phase of an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Anagold Madencilik for the expansion of the Çopler gold mine in the Çöpler District, Erzincan Province, Turkey. The value of the reimbursable contract has not been disclosed.

AFW’s work will include detailed engineering and procurement activities and the preparation of an open-book estimate, which will serve as the basis for the subsequent project phases. This initial phase of work is set to finish in late 2015, with the overall project due for completion during the fourth quarter of 2017.

Once completed, the Çöpler Sulphide Expansion Project will enable the facility to process 5,000 metric tons per day (mt/d) of sulphide ore over the planned 22-year mine life, in addition to the existing heap leach processing of oxide ore.
