Torex Gold Resources’ El Limón-Guajes open-pit gold-silver mine in Guerrero state, Mexico reached commercial production in late March, having operated for more than 30 consecutive days at an average plant throughput of 9,470 metric tons per day (mt/d). Design throughput capacity is 14,000 mt/d. At full production, the plant will produce an average of 369,000 ounces per year (oz/y) of gold and 214,000 oz/y of silver in doré bars over a period of nine years.

Life-of-mine feed to the El Limón-Guajes mill is estimated at 48 million mt at average head grades of 2.69 g/mt gold and 4.36 g/mt silver. Total contained metal is estimated at 4.15 million oz of gold and 6.72 million oz of silver. Mill gold recovery is estimated at 87.1%, and mill silver recovery is estimated at 32.5%.

The El Limón-Guajes project includes two separate pits, feeding a centrally located cyanide leach/carbon-in-pulp processing plant. Life-of-mine cash costs for gold net of silver revenue are expected to average $530/oz. All-in sustaining costs are estimated at $637/oz.

Torex Gold Resources is a Canadian company headquartered in Toronto. The El Limón-Guajes project is located on its 29,000-ha Morelos property approximately 200 km southwest of Mexico City. The project poured its first doré bars in late December 2015.

The Morelos property is located in the Guerrero Gold Belt, and Torex considers the entire property to have significant exploration potential. In addition to the El Limon-Guajes project, Torex has identified and completed a preliminary economic assessment on the Media Luna deposit 6.7 km south of and across the Balsas River from El Limón-Guajes. Media Luna has potential to become a source of feed for the El Limón-Guajes plant.
