Fiat Powertrain Technologies of North America has introduced two MSHA, CANMET and Tier 3 certified mechanical engines for underground mining: the N45 4 MSS X and the N67 MNT X. The company says these engines can be configured to meet many mining application needs including man trips, roof bolters, personnel carriers and service centers. The in-line four-cylinder N 45 MSS X (99 hp) and the in-line six-cylinder N67 MNT X (175 hp) are available as a module complete with cooling package, making them a drop-in solution for repower needs including older air-cooled engines.
