Marathon Gold Plans 60,000-m Drill Program at Valentine Lake

Marathon Gold has announced exploration and development plans for its Valentine Lake Gold Camp property in central Newfoundland that include a 60,000-meter (m) drill program focused primarily on the Marathon deposit. Three drills are on site, with a fourth to be added in the third quarter of 2017. The company is also prospecting a 7-km2 area to the northeast of the Victory deposit on the property, where historical gold showings warrant additional work.
Marathon planning also includes advanced environmental studies for future mine permitting and additional metallurgical work to optimize recoveries for conventional milling and heap leaching.

Kirkland Lake Intersects More High-grade Gold at Fosterville

Kirkland Lake Gold has reported additional high-grade drill results from ongoing underground drilling at its Fosterville gold mine in Victoria state, Australia. Results from 59 underground holes totaling 14,070 meters (m) into extensions of the Lower Phoenix gold system have returned some of the highest gold grades seen at the mine. The results continue to demonstrate the continuity of exceptional high-grade mineralization, with visible gold on both the newly discovered, west-dipping Lower Phoenix Footwall and the Eagle structures in the Lower Phoenix gold system.

Cartier Resources Drilling 50,000-m Across Four Gold Projects in Quebec

Cartier Resources has announced plans for 50,000-m in exploration drilling to be conducted at its Chimo Mine, Benoist, Wilson, and Fenton gold projects in Quebec. The drilling is intended to explore the depth and lateral extensions of known high-grade gold mineralization and expand the dimensions of known deposits on the four properties.
At the formerly producing Chimo mine, two rigs will complete 25,000 m of drilling. One rig will focus on depth and lateral extensions of known mineralization and expand the dimensions of gold zones that have been previously outlined. A second rig will focus exclusively on drilling the depth extension along plunge of the main Chimo gold zone, where the bulk of the ounces were mined. Cartier plans to begin the Chimo drilling in June and to complete it by December.

Newmont Secures Earn-in Rights to Goldstrike’s Plateau Property

Newmont Mining and Goldstrike Resources have announced an agreement that provides Newmont with rights to explore and develop Goldstrike’s highly prospective Plateau gold properties in east-central Yukon Territory, Canada. The agreement calls for Newmont to make phased investments that could total as much as $39.5 million to purchase interests in Goldstrike, for exploration spending, and to complete a feasibility study by December 15, 2027. If the agreement is carried through to its conclusion, Newmont may earn 80% equity in the Plateau property.
