Parker Hannifin’s Hose Products division now offers a new protection sleeve designed to prevent worker injuries and equipment damage from high-pressure hose bursts. As part of the company’s Partek line of hydraulic hose sleeving products, the Defense sleeving features high-performance materials and a proprietary endurance-boosting weave pattern to contain pressurized hose bursts and dissipate media within hose assemblies. It can be an integral element of worker safety programs in industries where operators work in close proximity to high-pressure hoses. The MSHA-rated protective sleeving contains host bursts at up to 12,000 psi. It is highly flexible and does not restrict hose routings. For simple installation, users cut the sleeve to hose length and secure it over the hose assembly with metal band clamps. An added benefit is that the fibers used to make the sleeve are specially coated to protect hoses against sunlight, ozone and other environmental conditions that cause deterioration. Partek Defense has been tested and approved to meet the requirements for ISO 3457, ISO4413, EN 414 and MDG41. The sleeve is available in five standard interior diameters and sold in 50-ft (15-m) reels.
