CoAL of Africa is confident that construction of its Vele Colliery in Limpopo will proceed soon. John Wallington CEO of CoAL said the company and the South African Department of Environmental Affairs, which forced CoAL to halt operations at Vele due to a disagreement over compliance with the National Environmental Management Act, have made progress on the outstanding issues. Environmental groups have opposed the mine due to its location near the Kruger National Park.
