Wenco International Mining Systems, part of Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM), announced a new exclusive distribution agreement in the Asia-Pacific region. Going forward, all Wenco products and frontline technical support services throughout Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, and Papua New Guinea will be handled directly by Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCA).

Wenco has been a wholly owned subsidiary of HCM since 2009. In a press release, Wenco said that arrangement and the acquisition of Automated Positioning Systems last year enabled it to gain market presence in Australia through involvement in major mine projects such as Roy Hill, Maules Creek, and Stanwell. With exclusive sales distribution and technical support through HCA, it expects to further increase its presence in this region.

All sales, operations, parts, and support will now occur through HCA’s branch offices across the Asia-Pacific region. Wenco’s existing Brisbane facility will remain in operation with a stronger focus on system development, quality assurance, and certified hardware repairs.
