Finnish process-equipment systems supplier Outotec has signed a contract with Codelco for the design and delivery of an effluent treatment plant for the Chilean copper producer’s new Mina Ministro Hales project near Calama, Chile. The contract price is approximately €18 million ($25 million).
Outotec’s scope of delivery covers the turnkey supply of the plant including basic and detail engineering, proprietary and process equipment, installation, startup services and training.
This deal follows a €116-million ($161.5-million) contract awarded by Codelco to Outotec in 2010 for design and delivery of a copper concentrate roasting plant, gas cleaning system and sulphuric acid plant. The new plant will have an annual capacity up to 550,000 mt of concentrate, and is scheduled to be commissioned in early 2013.

This way we can offer our customers ever more comprehensive life cycle solutions that cover also effluent treatment and gas cleaning of the processes, as in this supplementary contract we signed with Codelco,” said Pertti Korhonen, president and CEO of Outotec.
