Eramet Le Havre’s Sandouville, France, refinery processes nickel mattes into high-purity nickel metal and salts. The raw material fed to the refinery is extremely difficult to handle as it consists of particles that are almost perfectly spherical, creating problems during storage and transportation. To overcome these challenges, Aumund Fördertechnik GmbH developed a new hybrid feeder for the application.
Aumund said its BPB-SLP hybrid feeder combines the technical characteristics of a Samson material feeder and a heavy-duty Aumund BPB-SF arched plate conveyor. The combination of these machines was key to achieving a spillage-free process. In developing this product, Aumund engineers were able to draw on experience gained in previous reference projects.
