As Hannes Portmann, New Gold’s president and CEO, builds out the company’s leadership team, and with Rainy River scheduled to transition into operation beginning in September, Paula Myson will join New Gold in late August as executive vice president and CFO, and Peter Woodhouse will join New Gold as the vice president, projects. Myson held multiple senior roles at Sherritt. Most recently, Woodhouse was vice president, projects, at Centerra Gold. In connection with these management changes, Barry O’Shea, vice president, finance, has been appointed vice president, business development.

Gonzalo Eyzaguirre, Buenaventura’s vice president of operations, has been designated to serve as interim general manager of the company’s subsidiary, El Brocal. He will maintain his current responsibilities in addition to assuming the role of interim general manager.

Patricia Penney has been promoted to the position of controller from her previous position as financial and accounting manager since 2013.

MacDonald has worked for Goldcorp’s Musselwhite and Red Lake gold mines and Kirkland Lake Gold’s Macassa Complex gold mine in Ontario. The company also announced that Norm Bush has retired from his full-time role. Bush will continue to assist the company with community affairs and educating the local stakeholders about the Goliath gold project on a consulting basis.

Eugene H. Skinner passed away on May 8, 2017, in Spokane, Washington. He was born on March 11, 1930, in Bismarck, North Dakota. He graduated in 1953 from the South Dakota School of Mines. After graduating, he was drafted into the Army where he served two years in West Germany. After returning to the states, he graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 1960 and became a professional engineer. He worked for the U.S. Bureau of Mines for 29 years until retiring in 1994. He was a pioneer in establishing a lightweight concrete for mine stability and the year he retired, he received an award for overseeing the sealing of shutdown coal mines in West Virginia.
