AVANCO announced several management changes. Otávio Monteiro has been promoted to general manager, Carajás. Previously, he was general manager of the Antas mine. Jailson Araujo has been promoted to general manager, CentroGold. Previously, he was the company’s exploration manager. Wayne Phillips was promoted to general manager, technical services. Philips is a founding director and until recently was the head of projects. Bianca Cabral joins Avanco to take a leading environmental role, principally responsible for environmental management and compliance in the Carajás region. Cabral has worked for SEMAS (Secretary of State for Environment and Sustainability) for 10 years. Dr. Owen Hatton was appointed chief geoscientist. Owen has worked for many large companies such as Teck Cominco and operated as a consultant for many years based out of Chile. Mike Sousa was promoted to exploration manager, Carajás. Previously, he was a senior exploration geologist. Júlio Rocha was promoted to project manager, Pedra Branca. Rocha has more than 17 years in underground operations, including with Caraíba, Yamana and Votorantim in Brazil and Peru. Sebastião Siqueira joins the company in the newly created role of project manager for the CentroGold project. Siquiera has worked in Brazil and Africa and has extensive open-pit experience. Roberto Mialarete is the project controller. His responsibility is supporting the general manager, technical services, in the elaboration, execution, monitoring, and control of expenditure and budgets.
