Rio Tinto will be condensed into four product groups: aluminum, copper and coal, diamonds and minerals and iron ore. Copper Chief Executive Jean-Sebastien Jacques will lead the copper and coal product group. Uranium will be added to the diamonds and minerals product group, under the leadership of Product Group Chief Executive Alan Davies. Energy Chief Executive Harry Kenyon-Slaney will leave the business. The aluminum and iron ore product groups remain unchanged.
Centerra Gold Inc. announced that Ian Atkinson, president and CEO, has decided to retire by year-end. October will mark 10 years of service as vice president exploration, senior vice president of global exploration, and as president and CEO and a director.

Agnico Eagle Mines announced that Ammar Al-Joundi will be joining the company as president. Most recently, he was CFO and senior executive vice-president of Barrick Gold Corp. Dominique Girard has been appointed vice-president technical services and Nunavut operations. He joined the company in 2000 and has been the general manager at the Meadowbank operations. Nancy Guayhas been appointed senior corporate director, technical services. She has been with Agnico Eagle since 2012, most recently as corporate director, business strategy.Michael Timmins has been promoted to vice-president, corporate development. Timmins has been with Agnico Eagle since May 2006.

Michel Julien has been appointed vice-president environment. He has been corporate director of environment since 2011.
Anglo American appointed Anik Michaud as group director—corporate communication. She joined Anglo American in January 2008 as group head of corporate communication.

Alcoa announced that José Aurélio Drummond will join the company as president of Latin America. Drummond currently serves on Alcoa’s Brazil Advisory Board and previously held global leadership roles at Whirlpool Corporation for 14 years.
Hunt Mining Corp. has engaged Martin Fromm and Klaus Triebel with project management and engineering expertise. Most recently, Fromm was project manager for Patagonia Gold S.A. at both their Cap Oeste and Lomada de Leiva mines in Santa Cruz, Argentina, and Triebel was manager of resource estimation at Coeur Mining.
Teck Resources appointed Andrew Stonkus as senior vice president, marketing and sales. Most recently, he was vice president, base metals marketing.

SilverCrest Mines announced that N. Eric Fier, president and COO, has taken a partial leave of absence. Dunham L. Craig, director, has been appointed interim president and will assume the president’s responsibilities on a temporary basis. Fier will remain as COO and director until he is able to return. The board’s succession plan has Fier stepping into the CEO position upon J. Scott Drever’s anticipated retirement as CEO in the coming year.
Idaho North Resources appointed Lane Griffin as president and CEO. Mark Fralich, the outgoing president, will assume the role of corporate communications consultant.
Balmoral Resources Ltd. appointed John Foulkes to the position of vice president, corporate development. Most recently, he managed corporate development activities for Candente Copper Corp. and Platinum Group Metals Ltd.
Great Lakes Graphite Inc. announced that Jerry Janik has been appointed COO of the Great Lakes Innovations operating division.
Richmont Mines appointed Steve Burleton to the position of vice-president, business development. Most recently, he was vice president, corporate development, for a fertilizer producer with operations in Brazil.

Randgold Resources appointed Safiatou Francoise Ba-N’Daw as an independent nonexecutive director. She is a managing partner of Alizes Consultants and deputy chairwoman of Niger Omega.
African Potash appointed Christopher Cleverly as executive chairman. Cleverly, who joined the board as a nonexecutive director, will replace the incumbent Chairman Jean-Pierre Conrad, who will remain a nonexecutive director. Cleverly will also assume the responsibilities of the current CEO, Edward Marlow, who will also remain on the board as a nonexecutive director.

Duane Richards, CEO and general manager of Western Fuels Association, will retire in June. Richards joined Western Fuels Association in June 2004 following nearly 20 years with Xcel Energy and its predecessor Northern States Power.
IMX Resources appointed Phil Hoskins as CEO. He has held the role of acting CEO since September.
AMR Gold appointed a new management team that includes Dr. Jan Ketelaar (country manager), Salim Sillah (chief geologist) and Mohamed Daffae (Chief Finance Officer). The in-country team will be supported by the Senior Technical Advisor Colin Harris and Gary Vallerius, director and group CFO.

Kanagy was awarded the 2015 MMSA Gold Medal by the Mining and Metallurgical Society of America (MMSA) at their annual dinner on February 16 in Denver, Colorado. The MMSA Gold Medal is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the mining industry.
