Variable Horsepower Graders Now Available in Regional Markets

Global construction equipment brand Shandong Lingong Construction Machinery Co. Ltd. (SDLG) has launched variable horsepower versions of two of its biggest selling motor graders for Middle Eastern and African markets. The new G9190 and G9220 VHP (automatic variable horsepower) motor graders provide an automatic mode for transmission, allowing operators to shift seamlessly between manual to automatic transmission.

Pre-engineered Customizable Motors

ABB launched its N-series customizable general-purpose motors in the 50-kilowatt (kW) to 8,000-kW power range. N-series motors currently include three product families: the high-voltage rib cooled and modular induction motors, and a new range of slip-ring motors. Pre-engineered option packages include, for example, vertically mounted motors fitted with thrust bearings, which are widely used in pumping applications.

Tough Military Trucks Now Serve the Mining Industry

Acela, a producer of extreme-duty 4 x 4 and 6 x 6 trucks, recently debuted its Monterra truck line. The company said it offers a proprietary process of resetting U.S. military Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTVs) to a near zero-mile condition, then selling them into commercial markets such as mining and other resource industries for use as operational support vehicles. Acela said versions of the Monterra have proven themselves in mines for more than seven years with a 96% documented uptime.

Quiet Rock Splitter

Brokk introduced the C20 Rock Splitter. Manufactured by Darda, it is a safe and quiet alternative to explosives and hydraulic breakers, the company reported. The C20 Rock Splitter quickly breaks large boulders and solid rock in mining and shaft sinking applications as well as cross passage work in tunneling. Users drill a 3-in.-diameter hole into the rock with a separate attachment before inserting the splitter. The attachment expands with as much as 1,800 tons of force, splitting the rock.

Vehicle Intervention System Takes Control When Necessary

Hexagon AB launched HxGN Mine VIS, a vehicle intervention system that detects and prevents collisions by automatically slowing down or stopping a haul truck if an imminent collision is detected. According to the company, Mine VIS is an additional layer of safety on top of the Collision Avoidance System (CAS), helping to avoid incidents, injuries and fatalities. Mine VIS manages traffic in the pit and, by reacting when and if operators do not, is intended to ensure that safety rules are followed.

Impact Cradle Absorbs Shock

Superior Industries released the Impact Cradle, which is designed to eliminate the space between the conveyor belt and bed, the company reported. Designed to fit into an existing idler mounting footprint, the Impact Cradle is built to receive the blunt force of material flow at transition points in conveying systems, lessening the wear on the conveyor belt. The Impact Cradle’s thick urethane segments absorb shock and dissipate contact energy, reducing conveyor belt wear and tear.

According to the developer, Pitram 4.8 delivers major new functionalities, including Pitram Connect, while also addressing several key client issues.
