Variable Horsepower Graders Now Available in Regional Markets
Global construction equipment brand Shandong Lingong Construction Machinery Co. Ltd. (SDLG) has launched variable horsepower versions of two of its biggest selling motor graders for Middle Eastern and African markets. The new G9190 and G9220 VHP (automatic variable horsepower) motor graders provide an automatic mode for transmission, allowing operators to shift seamlessly between manual to automatic transmission.
Pre-engineered Customizable Motors
ABB launched its N-series customizable general-purpose motors in the 50-kilowatt (kW) to 8,000-kW power range. N-series motors currently include three product families: the high-voltage rib cooled and modular induction motors, and a new range of slip-ring motors. Pre-engineered option packages include, for example, vertically mounted motors fitted with thrust bearings, which are widely used in pumping applications.
Tough Military Trucks Now Serve the Mining Industry
Acela, a producer of extreme-duty 4 x 4 and 6 x 6 trucks, recently debuted its Monterra truck line. The company said it offers a proprietary process of resetting U.S. military Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTVs) to a near zero-mile condition, then selling them into commercial markets such as mining and other resource industries for use as operational support vehicles. Acela said versions of the Monterra have proven themselves in mines for more than seven years with a 96% documented uptime.
Quiet Rock Splitter
Brokk introduced the C20 Rock Splitter. Manufactured by Darda, it is a safe and quiet alternative to explosives and hydraulic breakers, the company reported. The C20 Rock Splitter quickly breaks large boulders and solid rock in mining and shaft sinking applications as well as cross passage work in tunneling. Users drill a 3-in.-diameter hole into the rock with a separate attachment before inserting the splitter. The attachment expands with as much as 1,800 tons of force, splitting the rock.
Vehicle Intervention System Takes Control When Necessary
Hexagon AB launched HxGN Mine VIS, a vehicle intervention system that detects and prevents collisions by automatically slowing down or stopping a haul truck if an imminent collision is detected. According to the company, Mine VIS is an additional layer of safety on top of the Collision Avoidance System (CAS), helping to avoid incidents, injuries and fatalities. Mine VIS manages traffic in the pit and, by reacting when and if operators do not, is intended to ensure that safety rules are followed.
Impact Cradle Absorbs Shock
Superior Industries released the Impact Cradle, which is designed to eliminate the space between the conveyor belt and bed, the company reported. Designed to fit into an existing idler mounting footprint, the Impact Cradle is built to receive the blunt force of material flow at transition points in conveying systems, lessening the wear on the conveyor belt. The Impact Cradle’s thick urethane segments absorb shock and dissipate contact energy, reducing conveyor belt wear and tear.
New FMS Offers Additional Functionality
MICROMINE released Pitram 4.8, the latest version of its fleet management and mine control solution. According to the developer, Pitram 4.8 delivers major new functionalities, including Pitram Connect, while also addressing several key client issues. Pitram Connect is MICROMINE’s new mobile application that offers third-party integration on mobile devices via Pitram’s REST Integration Services (PRIS). Pitram Connect provides insight into site operations without requiring users to directly contact mine control personnel or be at a workstation.
Engine Starters Engineered for Big Diesels
New Leece-Neville PowerPro and PowerPro Extreme series high-torque starters for medium- or heavy-duty and extreme-use applications are available now from Prestolite Electric. PowerPro and PowerPro Extreme 12 V and 24 V starters — engineered to provide starting power for 12-L to 40-L engines — include features to help reduce operating and maintenance costs and increase vehicle uptime, including high-torque, high-power designs, planetary gear reduction, rotatable flanges, soft start relays and more. The new PowerPro and PowerPro Extreme product line features four models — PowerPro 5, PowerPro 7, PowerPro 7.5 and PowerPro Extreme 10 — that offer coverage of heavy-duty engines from the world’s top manufacturers, including Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, International, John Deere and Perkins, to name just a few.
Automated Vehicle for Plants
Comau commercialized the automated guided vehicle (AGV) platform along with its AGV, the Agile1500. Modular, scalable and configurable, the Agile1500 can carry up to 1,500 kg with a maximum speed of 1.7 meters per second (m/s)
Platform for IoT Data, E-commerce, Analytics
Rexnord released DiRXN, a digital productivity platform based on the integration of innovative Internet of Things (IoT) and e-commerce technologies with its portfolio of tools, products and services. It directly connects customers to data and information that allows them to optimize productivity across all stages of their lifecycles, the company reported.
Pump Switch Tracks Temperature, Flow Level
Fluid Components International announced the FlexSwitch FLT93 Flow Switch, which detects dry-running conditions in pumps and pipes. It reliably monitors the flow and temperature of liquids, gases, slurries and more. The switch is ideal for pump wet/dry detection, where sudden, unexpected reductions in media flow rates may leave pumps vulnerable to over-heating conditions, the company reported.
