Komatsu America’s new D155AX-8 crawler dozerKomatsu America’s new D155AX-8 crawler dozer has an operating weight of 89,300 lb and is rated at 354 net hp, with power coming from an SAA6D140E-7 EPA Tier 4 Final diesel. The D155AX-8 features a 12.3-yd3 SIGMADOZER blade that is claimed to dramatically improve dozing performance and increase productivity up to 15% over a conventional Semi-U blade. The blade features a frontal design concept adopted fordigging and rolling material at the center of the blade. Digging resistance is reduced for a smoother flow of material so larger amounts of soil can be dozed with less power.

The D155AX-8 is equipped with the latest KOMTRAX technology. Data such as fuel levels, DEF levels, operating hours, location, cautions and maintenance alerts are relayed to a Web application for analysis. A new Operator Identification System reports key operating information for multiple operators and a new Auto Idle Shutdown function helps reduce idle time. Inside the cab, a high-resolution color LCD monitor with pull-down menus enables quick operational adjustments and has enhanced service diagnostics capability. A rear view monitoring system is standard and can be set to synchronize with reverse operation.

The D155AX-8 has an automatic gearshift transmission and lock-up torque converter that automatically transfers engine power directly to the transmission, decreasing fuel consumptionby up to 10% while machine power is maintained. Thumb push buttons simplify transmission gear shifting. The ripper now incorporates a new auto-returnfunction to increase operator efficiency when ripping.
